Richland County Recommended Development Principles
(Adobe PDF - File Size: 940 KB)
At last month's county council meeting on October 20th 2009, the Developmental Roundtable was scheduled to present their recommendations to council on principles to be adopted in the land development ordinance. However, there was no quorum that night, so they have rescheduled the presentation for Tuesday, November 3rd at 6 p.m.
Council Chambers are located at 2020 Hampton St at the corner of Hampton and Harden. These principles will help protect water quality in Richland County. We hope you can come out and show support for this effort.

Forest Acres Greenway Gills Creek Trail
(Adobe PDF - File Size: 5.5 MB)
Forest Acres has a proposed walking trail along Gills Creek that advocates say would provide the first public access to the mostly hidden creek. The $775,000 greenway would extend for about a half-mile behind Trenholm Plaza, hugging the bank of the creek through woods parallel to Trenholm Road. Gills Creek Watershed Association sponsor Grimball Cotterill Landscape Architects developed the Master Plan for the project.

Gills Creek Watershed Association General Information Brochure
(Adobe PDF - File Size: 1.28 MB)
Richland County's Gills Creek Watershed is a wonderful and irreplaceable resource that we all enjoy. Its rivers, lakes, and creeks offer recreational opportunities, provide habitat for fish and wildlife, support agriculture, and provide drinking water. Unfortunately, our watershed is in danger. Trash, sedi-mentation, and pollution have contami-nated large areas within the watershed. Restoration of the watershed will require the united efforts of everyone - city, county, state, and federal entities, and most importantly - you - the citizens of Gills Creek!
